In an interview with CIO Applications, Patti Rogers, founder and CEO of Rallyhood, discusses the company’s inception, growth, milestones, and research and development in the field of digital collaboration solutions.

Could you provide a brief overview of your company?

Rallyhood was born out of the inspiration to bring the principles of enterprise collaboration to organizations and individual groups that require more user-friendly solutions to engage their stakeholders. Our platform delivers all the benefits of digital collaboration— streamlined communications and increased efficiency of centralized tools and assets—to purpose-driven groups and organizations like, member associations, non-profits, scouts, sports teams, schools, religious groups, and small-medium businesses.

While many communication tools focus primarily on top-down messaging, our platform offers multi-directional engagement. Rallyhood empowers every group within an organization with a robust suite of social-collaboration software that has the flexibility to customize and personalize their environment. Additionally, our admin suite offers robust content publishing and communication tools for targeted messaging, moderation, member management, and aggregation of engagement analytics. With Rallyhood, an organization can track and measure engagement within specific categories, bringing powerful new data and best-practice insights to light.

Which trends in the collaboration solution space does Rallyhood intend to leverage in 2019?

There is a much-needed shift toward people-centric collaboration. Today’s solutions must offer a consumer-friendly UI, tools, and channels of communication that people want to use. We have always positioned the end-user first, and the marketplace has begun to pay attention to our methods. The team has put in thousands of hours to make Rallyhood easy to use, manage, and administer.

Consumers always vie for convenience across all technologies, so in-app messaging is becoming the preferred method of communication. To this end, Rallyhood has several channels of communication— in-app group messaging, direct messaging, push notifications, and email digests. We are continually striving to streamline communication while also being a source of truth where conversations, topics, and information can be archived, or saved, making it easy for users to refer back to discussions and find important documents.

Furthermore, smartphones continue to be an ever-evolving technology. The majority of today’s population has a mobile device because users prefer the immediate connection and accessibility from anywhere. Rallyhood is built to support mobile and web-based interfaces to give organizations the power to meet and communicate with their members and stakeholders promptly and provide end-users with the accessibility they expect. Rallyhood’s micro-services architecture allows for a level of personalization that meets the customer’s unique business requirements. Our platform can integrate with tools like Slack, Salesforce, or other digital assets, based on a client’s business needs.

What challenges do you observe from your interactions with the CIOs of leading companies?

Every organization implementing collaboration tools faces the challenge of adoption. That is why we continue to invest in improving the user experience and adding meaningful value to end-users. Team Rallyhood works closely with customers to understand their staff’s workflow as well as the unique user-journey of each stakeholder to find the right touch-points to engage members in the most frictionless way possible. We are motivated on a daily basis through three simple questions: How can we make our users’ lives better? How can we help groups effectively organize around causes and events they care about? And, how can we help organizations deliver on their mission and successfully retain their membership?

Could you elaborate on your workflow automation solution?

One of our key customer segments is member organizations that rely on their participants and volunteers to self-organize and engage around a mission. Although users may not always be employees, these groups still require streamlined solutions and easy-to-use communication tools to simplify work, increase productivity, improve shared experiences, and save time.

Instead of using fragmented ad-hoc tools that are cumbersome for member groups, Rallyhood aggregates all the tools needed to centralize necessary information. For larger organizations, administrators get the added value of content publishing, targeted messaging, member management, and visualization of engagement analytics. From Rallyhood’s admin portal, an organization can track and measure engagement throughout the enterprise, bringing powerful new data and best practices insights to the leadership team.

Furthermore, for organizations that rely on tools like Salesforce and Slack, Rallyhood offers API integration to feed and retrieve information through our services. One way to look at our integration capability: Rallyhood brings the day-to-day experiences surrounding the mission to life; and through our API integrations, we can ensure workflow efficiency and consistency of membership records in an easy, consistent, and manageable way.

How have your solutions helped clients in the past?

One of our customers is a non-profit member organization consisting of over 50,000 members, with the mission to empower and transform young girls into independent, capable leaders. They have utilized Rallyhood to enable effective communication and collaboration across thousands of cohort groups. Before implementing Rallyhood, the members would self-organize using a fragmented, inconsistent set of tools. There was no consistency between participating groups, which led to disorganization, discontent, and frustration among members who could not find the information they needed when they needed it. Relevant information was frequently lost, and events and programs were often missed. With Rallyhood, all cohorts now have a consistent, well-organized experience making it easier to stay engaged and active around the mission they care about,while administrators have visibility and analytics they’ve never had before.

What does the future hold for your company?

We are constantly working to improve Rallyhood for our customers and end-users. This year will be our most exciting year yet in terms of new technology releases that extend our platform’s capabilities and bring more value to groups, organizations, and business partners. We will be bringing new functionality like ticketed events, recurring payment transactions, advanced analytics, and front end customization tools that empower awesome flexibility with zero coding required. Most importantly, we remain committed and motivated by the belief that great things can happen when we come together.
